The Salvation Army New Hope Community Church

New Hope Community Church is a congregation of The Salvation Army, which it describes as an international Christian church whose message is based on the Bible and whose ministry is motivated by love for God and the needs of humanity. Its eleven doctrines hold that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments 'only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice', confess one God in three persons, and teach that Christ made atonement for the whole world, that repentance, faith in Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation, and that it is the privilege of all believers to be wholly sanctified. The church gives the principle it lives by as 'Love God. Love People.'

New Hope Community Church is The Salvation Army’s congregation in Orangeville, in a brick church with a white steeple on Riddell Road near the Townline. In Salvation Army usage a congregation is a corps; the church’s website names Cory and Pam Pinksen as its pastors, and the Army’s own directory lists it as Orangeville - New Hope Community Church.

Sunday worship is at half past ten, with coffee and fellowship from ten. The church’s mission, shared with The Salvation Army as a whole, is to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the community. From the same building its community and family services offer emergency help and emergency housing, laundry services, life skills, emergency disaster response, back-to-school help, grief care and Christmas assistance, and its thrift store is at 162 Broadway. Women’s and men’s Bible studies run through the year, and the Salvation Stitchers meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month to sew, knit and crochet for charity.

As in The Salvation Army generally, worship does not include water baptism or the Lord’s Supper.

What to expect

The church invites visitors to come as they are and enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to music and a message relevant to where they are right now; coffee and fellowship begin at 10:00 a.m., half an hour before the service. It says that everyone is welcome, whatever their background, situation or condition.
