## What they believe
Orangeville Canadian Reformed Church describes itself as a Christian church rooted in the teachings of the Bible as they were rediscovered in the Protestant Reformation. It believes that God has revealed everything we need to know for this life, for his glory and our salvation, in the Bible; that all people are under the wrath of God because of sin; and that deliverance is a gracious gift received through faith in the one sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. It confesses the Apostles', Nicene and Athanasian creeds with the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism and the Canons of Dort.

## What to expect
Both Sunday services follow the same pattern of singing, prayer, Bible reading, a sermon on a passage of Scripture and an offertory. Ushers at the door of the sanctuary help with seating and hand out a Bible, a Book of Praise for the singing and a liturgy sheet to follow. The congregation sings psalms and hymns from the Book of Praise, the Genevan Psalter, and reads the English Standard Version. A nursery with babysitters runs during both services, and children aged four and older usually sit with their parents. The church says those who attend typically dress neatly. The Lord's Supper is celebrated in the morning service on the third Sunday of February, April, June, August, October and December, with members and with guests previously admitted by the consistory. There is a large parking lot beside and behind the building.

## About this congregation
Orangeville Canadian Reformed Church was instituted on 13 August 1950 by immigrants who had come from the Netherlands after the Second World War and could not find a church where they felt at home. It has worshipped in its present building on C Line, on the west side of town, since 1960. The congregation describes itself as about 390 members, some 228 of them communicant members, and holds all its activities in English. It belongs to Classis Northern Ontario, and its minister is Rev. Mark Vanderlinde, who accepted the congregation's call in December 2023; Rev. Eric Kampen is its minister emeritus.

Worship is held twice each Sunday, at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The congregation explains that the afternoon service is not a repetition of the morning one: it has more of a teaching character, working through the teachings of the church in the order of the Heidelberg Catechism. Baptism is administered to the newborn children of members and to adults who come to the faith.

The building was renovated between 2019 and 2021. From August 2019 the congregation worshipped in the Orangeville Christian Reformed Church's building on Blind Line, at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and it returned to its renovated church on C Line on 7 March 2021.
